Last night Josh and I welcomed in a new year on our front porch. We actually were in bed watching a movie and heard loud fireworks so we went out to see where they were coming from. I could not believe that a firework show was occurring right outside our front door. They were huge and almost of the professional grade so it was a beautiful surprise! It gave me a smile as I greeted 2011.

I can't quite believe that another year has come and gone.  2010 went by in a flash and I feel robbed of another year gone by.  Could it be because I was pregnant for almost 5 of the 12 months? Whatever the reason, I plan on looking forward and making the most of this year.  

I have started a list of goals for 2011 and I plan on doing most of them! I am not a big goal maker but I think it is nice to write down some of my dreams so I can accomplish a few of them. Having made the goal to make goals I must share a few so you can hold me accountable of them (yikes).

1. Spend more time with my kids...they are growing fast and stella starts kindergarten this year. (give more hugs, listen to their dreams, dance with them, create art, play on the ground, teach them about life, bake, make messes, act like a kid with them, take more pictures of them)
2. Make an effort to take care of myself....body and mind and lose some baby weight.
3. Enroll in an art class and expand my mind beyond photography.  Maybe painting or ceramics?
4. Shoot personal work - I am going to make a point to just post personal work at least once a month if not more.
5. Go on a family vacation (no working allowed).  i would love to sit down and plan a fun filled family centered vacation.  Any good places to go that you know of?
6. Slow down and smell the coffee, flowers or air......

I have clearly been blessed with family and friends and look forward to all that 2011 brings.  Happy New Year to all of my blog readers!

we had a wonderful christmas at our house with the four of us. leon had his first christmas and he enjoyed the fruit and robot that santa left in his stocking. stella woke up requesting her morning cereal and a cartoon so clearly we knew she forgot that santa had made a stop to our house.  a quick reminder and she jumped into a story of how she saw rudolph the red nosed reindeer fly across the moon last night and that she has REALLY good eye sight.  she is such a creative and passionate child with lots to share with the world.  i am working on trying to be a better mom to her and in doing that i need to listen to her more and see that she is actually teaching me a bunch of things. 

i am making a list of goals for 2011 and she and leon are up there on the top.  i want to focus more on both of them and i am really excited to see what this next year brings with my family and our relationships.  today we took the televisions out of the house so i will have more time to reflect and not waste time watching countless hours of crap.  i want to take on more personal projects and that excites me. i thought this post deserved some of stella's art work. she loves drawing pictures of people and most of the time that includes putting a big smile on someones face.

what a year!  i am officially off for the year and glad to be spending time with my family!  we are so thankful for all of our friends and family who have made this year bright.  looking forward to seeing what next year brings.  i will be out of the office until january 4th.
