a post has been due for a while now, but i could not seem to
muster up the energy to grab my camera and head into the mess. i have
been living in a construction zone for the past 6 months and my head has been
in one, too. a great deal of effort is required when you remodel your home
and your lives become altered for a moment. my porch is a make shift garage, leon has never really
known what it is like to hang out in the back yard and stella has reverted to
playing in the front yard until the time comes to make it habitable. it must
be amusing to see us out in our tiny front yard playing in the kiddy pool. being in this stage for more than a year (drawings + demolition +
building) and i am ready to move in!
i am not sure if you are like me but i get in a "i don't care" mode
when my house is a disaster and that is ok because soon it will all be moved
somewhere else! living like this has made me a little crazy but my chest
loosens when i realize that we are doubling the size of our house. soon the kids can have their own rooms
and a place to hang their clothes.(we have one closet)
josh and i decided that we also wanted to move our work studio
back to the house so we could relish the time spent with our kids and say
goodbye to the 20 minute commute. (coffee
stop is included in that time) yes, us city folk are spoiled.
here is the first half of our house tour (downstairs) brought to you by
stella. she was eager to pose for the camera and as you can see this is
not the most child friendly area. in fact we try to stay out of there at
all times to avoid injury. today a piece of wood flew across the room and
shattered the dryer door. did i say i can't wait for this to be
over? until then, you can find me playing in the front yard with my kids.

Here is a shot from the land that we got before the sun went down. After this shot we drank a lone star to celebrate our long day (and the fact that rattle snakes stayed away).
check out cameron and matt's vimeo page to see more of them in action.
