mr. leon told me he was sad that he did not get to show you the tour with miss stella so i told him he could take us on the upstairs tour. he is just one month shy of learning to walk so he is on the go! i am learning quickly that boys will be boys! boys = destructive and into everything dirty and dangerous.  leon certainly is proving his boyhood. i really fear when we are done with the addition and he takes to the stairs by himself.  i guess an ugly baby gate needs to be purchased.  unless you know of a good looking baby gate out there?

brooke said: kati, yes, boys look so cute in those shoes! :) i love dressing him in those. i will look for a baby gate and if i find one i will be sure to blog about it. :) i may even make my own and make it pretty. because we have to have all things attractive over here. (06.29.11 @ 09:02 AM)

Carly McCray said: Your kids are so dang cute + I just love your work! We found a gate that I wouldn't necessarily claim is hip, but it's not fug-hideous and it's been 15-month-twin proof so far. It's the deco gate via Babies r Us... http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4322416&prodFindSrc=search (07.06.11 @ 11:38 AM)
andrea said: We like our baby gates - made by KidCo - I think it's their Metro line, but I'm not sure. Comes in white, black or aluminum metals (that are heat-resistant in case you need to put in front of a fire place) and can support more than the weight of a child hanging on them (not that I know this from experience with my boy...oh wait, yes I do!) They are great because you can buy the number of sections you need or do a pressure-mount one and either way, you can pop them on and off pretty easily if you want to remove them for a party, etc. Website is: http://kidcosafety.com Hope that helps! a post has been due for a while now, but i could not seem to muster up the energy to grab my camera and head into the mess.  i have been living in a construction zone for the past 6 months and my head has been in one, too.  a great deal of effort is required when you remodel your home and your lives become altered for a moment. my porch is a make shift garage, leon has never really known what it is like to hang out in the back yard and stella has reverted to playing in the front yard until the time comes to make it habitable. it must be amusing to see us out in our tiny front yard playing in the kiddy pool.  being in this stage for more than a year (drawings + demolition + building) and i am ready to move in!

i am not sure if you are like me but i get in a "i don't care" mode when my house is a disaster and that is ok because soon it will all be moved somewhere else!  living like this has made me a little crazy but my chest loosens when i realize that we are doubling the size of our house.   soon the kids can have their own rooms and a place to hang their clothes.(we have one closet)

josh and i decided that we also wanted to move our work studio back to the house so we could relish the time spent with our kids and say goodbye to the  20 minute commute. (coffee stop is included in that time) yes, us city folk are spoiled.

here is the first half of our house tour (downstairs) brought to you by stella.  she was eager to pose for the camera and as you can see this is not the most child friendly area.  in fact we try to stay out of there at all times to avoid injury.  today a piece of wood flew across the room and shattered the dryer door.  did i say i can't wait for this to be over?  until then, you can find me playing in the front yard with my kids.

i took the kids easter white dresses with us when we went out to marfa.  i am not one to normally dress them in bright white for the occasion but i wanted to bring them out due to a scene that i had in my head.  i knew the land was in drought and that there were blackened fields from fires so i thought this might make for a cool juxtaposition of kids in easter white surrounded by black fields. i am framing this one.
