this song is so real for me. so simple...and touching. i heard it for the first time back in college, (a time when life was raw and reflective) laying in my bunk bed at young life camp. ryan long was introduced to me at camp (summer of 2000) and i fell in love with his songs. one song in particular really stuck out to me and i could not help but imagine my own
daughter in it. very strange because i did not know my daughter... but i would dream of her. don't most girls dream of their life with a family?!
friday afternoon (summer 2009) we were out taking photos of my sister and her belly. stella wanted to put on her new dress on that my mom had bought her and tag along with us. she was a sight to see. my little princess had her shoes on backwards, her face was dirty and she wanted to be in on all the action!
it was not this day that i remembered my thoughts about stella and this song - but something did feel real when i snapped this photo of her running with flowers in her hand while she held her dress up. to finally know my daughter...and remember this song. very moving for me.

snow white by ryan long.
"Little girl on a crowded street sunburned and sandaled feet
I didn't want to see her cry
She said daddy I cannot see is she coming tell me tell me
Snow White in her magic palace ride
I said Rebecca wait patiently She'll be here soon believe me
I'm your daddy I would not tell a lie
Well her tears just stopped and she raised her hands
She started jumping around like was made to dance
And she was singing
I cannot wait for Snow White to come by
This day must be the very best day of my life
Rebecca looked up at me eyes wide as the raging sea
No camera could've captured my girls smile
She said daddy could you lift me up I can hear'm now and with any luck
Snow White will stop and dance with me awhile
She climbed on my shoulders and she hugged my head
She sang loud enough to wake the dead
And she was singing
There was something dead in me and she woke me from my sleep
And I can't remember when I sang so sweet
And we were singing"

This is the most precious thing I have read in a long while! Although it is a little too late to be admitting to the world that I am a late night blog surfer I felt the need to comment because I went to Windy Gap as well and I think it might have even been the same summer as you! I am so happy that you brought this song back into my life, and that it means so much for yours! Have a wonderful week!

meandering the web I landed on your blog. I was at Castaway in 1999 when Ryan Long wrote this song. He would hang out in the club room and me and my future husband would watch in awe. :)
